Hot Sauce Posse remembered

Wayde Compton's new book, After Canaan, features an analysis of the legendary sketch comedy group.

Not legendary, but at least not forgotten, like this blog.

Yes, this is 2011.

The Hot Sauce Posse, if not on stage, then in spirit, forever.

Charlie's play, JJ's clothes

Hey, look! Charlie Cho is co-producing a play he co-wrote - Twisting Fortunes - and JJ Lee's designing the wardrobe for it.

And, if you haven't already been following it, JJ's got a column - Vancouver by Design - on CBC Radio.

Zen Shane Lim and Grace Chin star in this Before Sunrise-esque story about an accidentally Asian pair who find it easy enough to fall in like, then find their relationship anything but.

Shows: Feb. 6, 7, 8, 9 at 8 p.m. at the Playwrights Theatre Centre on Granville Island. For more info and advance tickets: Twisting Fortunes.

Short Film

Not happening yet, but not forgotten, The HSP is planning a short film about a group of ***** who lose their ability to ***** and get together to come to terms with their lost *****, which will make it seem like Viagra advertisement but will be about shortcomings on an entirely different level.

Charlie Cho and JJ Lee are supposed to be writing it but have yet to focus on it.

Alexis Mazurin Studio Dedication

On February 20, 2006, CBC Radio 3 dedicated a studio to the memory of Alexis Mazurin. JJ had a big hand in organizing it with the amazing help of many folks at CBC, especially Charlie Cheffins, Steve Pratt, Mike Packer, David Yee, and Nicole Goodman. Lots of other people too.

Alexis Mazurin was remembered this week in the Tyee. It's an online magazine about BC.

Alexis is a founding member of the Hot Sauce Posse. He died last year after suffering a massive heart attack. He is well missed and still loved.

The author is Wayde Compton. He's a poet, historian, and all-round good guy.
